Where We Work
WHERE WE WORK
In the last five years, the 2030 Water Resources Group (2030 WRG) and its partners have elevated awareness about the challenges and risks of water scarcity in a growing number of countries, and demonstrated how parties can effectively tackle water resources challenges together.
Every country has unique water challenges, and these challenges will differ by time, place, and sector. We are currently operating with these first eight based on a transparent set of criteria, most important of which is that we must be invited by the state or country governments. A strong government commitment to work with stakeholders in constructive, transparent and sustained dialogue cannot be undervalued. It is only through an open, diverse and inclusive level of trust that reforms can gain any traction.
For that reason we are currently operating in India, Mexico, Mongolia, Peru, South Africa and Tanzania. We are furthermore engaged at differing levels in Kenya, where we have been asked by its Government to conduct a targeted an analysis of water resource management issues; in Jordan, where we developed an analysis and fact base to help shape its National Water Policy and Decisions (2011); and in Bangladesh, where we have commissioned a nationwide study to map water sector related activities to identify gaps and a possibly deeper 2030 WRG intervention.
