Kenya – Outcomes

Our Outcomes

Kenya is the newest addition to the 2030 WRG portfolio and hence progress remains at an early stage.  During the first year of engagement, outcomes have included:

  • Preliminary hydro-economic analysis is complete and a summary report was launched and disseminated at the Africa 3GF Conference in Nairobi in May.  This 12 page “briefing note” version is available on the website, and the full report will be published by Sept 2015.
  • A partnership structure has been developed and endorsed by stakeholders, and is expected to include high-level participation from a range of public sector, private sector and civil society stakeholders. A first meeting of the partnership governing board is planned for late September 2015.
  • Extensive consultations across the public sector, private sector and civil society have also highlighted potential priority focus areas for the partnership.  These include increasing collaboration across sectors and water users in high-competition catchments, identification of priority new infrastructure investments, water storage (innovative small and medium scale solutions), and incentives to save and recycle water in industry.

Our Future

With strong support for the partnership established, the priorities for the next six months include: establishing a full secretariat for the partnership in Nairobi; officially launching the partnership and holding the first governing board; and agreeing a list of priority initiatives for the partnership through the convening of targeted working group meetings.
